All very good points giuseppe.

The West will allow Russia to punish Georgia by driving out Georgian military formations and limit themselves to expressing "concern".

Now that it seems that particular goal has been achieved, the media pressure is now going to be piled on. They will not accept Russian intrusions beyond South Ossetia - greater Georgia is too valuable for them to lose, however much it may deserve to do so.

Hello Stalker,
I don't think the Georgians planned to destroy the southern exit of the Roki tunnel, because they have have concentrated their forces around Tskhinvali, without sending any unit to the north, not even a commando unit. IMHO, Saakashvili and his men swallowed their own propaganda and believed that Russia wouldn't react militarily, but only with words. I know it's hard to believe this, but this is what most people here in the West thought in the night of the georgian assault, as you can see in some military forums.
The fact that it is the West that is reacting only with words, to me means two things:
1) Saakashvili acted on his own, going beyond what the West expected from him;
2) the West has had enough of Saakashvili, because with his behaviour he is putting the BTC pipeline at risk, instead of protecting it.
So, I mostly agree with your prediction on Saakashvili's fate. I doubt Russia will target the BTC pipeline in the current situation, it will be left in case there is an escalation.
Just my 2 cents.
