You sound like a government public affairs officer. I could talk about the high rates of immigration vs. emmigration, or the increasing older population (and the "Ulyanovsk day of conception" will not fix that). But ultimately there is no Russian Brand. There are no intellectual property rights: serious inventors, investors, engineers from Russia go to the US for patents. The only thing you would here if heard something is made from Russia is laughter and a few jokes. The moral of the story is that nationalistic sheep-people are everywhere (US, Europe, etc.). Giving these predictions are the same as saying oil should be at $300/barrel right now according to the last summer's predictions.

Yes Russia's economy is more diversified than natural gas and minerals look:
http://www.vedomosti.ru/newspaper/article.shtml?2008/12/22/174687

AK responds: With nothing constructive to say on the topic (and probably after only a quick skim through the article), you flounder like a drunk clown in a pond of red herrings and slippery insinuations. Come back when you learn to argue like an adult.

PS: I don't see how your migration sentence fits in with the rest of your comment. Unless I misunderstand you, yes it is true that Russia's immigration is much higher than emigration due to the fact that it is much better off economically than the likes of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, the Central Asian countries, etc. That is a positive, which makes your comment seem somewhat schizophrenic. Unless you meant to say that Russia's emigration is higher than its immigration, which is flat out wrong. Also, please don't link your name to irrelevant news story from 5 years ago - it is a disservice to other readers of the blog.
