I am a frequent visitor to Sublime Oblivion and I'm happy that you decided to start these forums. I don't enjoy the other forums that I know about these subjects, so I wish the best luck for this one.

Here are some first impressions:

a) There are too many forums. I have run forums before and I made the same mistake. It's better to star with fewer forums and only add new ones when and if needed. Creating new forums is only justified after the volume of active topics makes it impractical to be aware of what is being currently debated. (I think...)

b) The colours look nice. And damn hard to read. At the end of a work day maybe my eyes will rebel and demand something easier to read. Also the theme not consistent with the look of the blog. I think it would be better if there were visual coherence.

* Do not post any unlawful, harassing or abusive materials that could get my ass sued. Please take that outside / to another forum.

* In particular, no uploading of, or links to, warez or hardcore pornography.

* Do not post anything that could be constituted as an infringement of the IP, copyright or trademark of a third party.

* Remain courteous to fellow members and the moderators. Refrain from ad hominem attacks - fight the message, not the messenger. It is OK to call an argument an "idiotic proposition" (be sure to back that up with evidence, though!), but calling its proponent an "idiot" is a no-no.

* Do not type L1K3 7h15 or use 1337-abbrevs like "ur" (your) or "kkthxcya" (Ok, thanks, good bye). It's not 2050 yet and this remains highly annoying 4 many ppl.

* Do not spam (post the same thing over and over) or cross-post in different forums. ESPECIALLY do not repost something if it was deleted by a moderator.

* No consecutive posts, i.e. one after the other. Please edit your previous one instead.

* Though I am skeptical about the PC movement and intend to keep the forum a bastion for free speech, there are still limits on what I can accept. Things like unbridled racism and sexism, hate speech and Holocaust denial are decidedly verboten, and are grounds for a temporary ban, permaban, or account deletion.

* Swearing is permitted, since I trust we are all mature enough to read words like "fuck" without having epileptic seizures and sometimes feel the need to make a particularly strong point. That said, their use is not encouraged and excessive usage (especially outside the Coffee House) will bring censure and even a ban if transgressions are repeated.

* Offensive usernames are forbidden. These accounts will be deleted on first notice.

* Do not use these forums for spamming users, collecting info on them without their express permission, advertising commercial products or other websites, or conducting your own business. Doing so will probably earn you a permaban.

* Double logins / multiple profiles are forbidden.

Failure to comply with any of the forum rules may result in your posts being deleted and/or your account being temporarily or permanently banned from Sublime Oblivion Forums. Furthermore, your account may be deleted or edited by the forum staff at any time without prior notification for whatever reason.
