  1. Putin made quite a splash with his test flight of the T-50.

Certain NATO countries-- viz., the UK, France and Germany-- have been working on a revolutionary mode of aerial warfare that, when they unveil it, makes the T-50 look like an obese ostrich.

    Air combat-- has changed.

  2. You are correct that the PAK FA (F-22, JSF, etc) are nearing obsolescence, as drones are the future. The only question now is how long the fighter mafia postpones the demanning of air platforms .

  3. If you deman an air platform it is dependant on external commands or programmed reactions. This may be a point of vulnerability because the machine becomes predictable and a clever enemy can find a method to surprisingly crack them in large numbers. Advantages of unmanned vehicles are cheap training and maintenance, astonishing endurance and the potential for extreme maneuvering. In my opinion, combining human controlled and unmanned vehicles will be the key to success because it gives you a forward commanding platform unlike someone in an office far away. Fighters will grow their capabilities by a factor of 3-5 with the addition of suitable UAVs.
